Frequently asked questions

How do weekly budgets work?

During setup you enter your monthly income, such as your maintenance loan, any scholarship and other income, and how much you plan to spend in each category. You then log your spending yourself; Spenvo doesn't connect to your bank. Spenvo takes your current balance for the month and divides it by the weeks left in the month. That gives you a weekly amount you can spend. As you log spending and income, the figure updates. The balance card turns amber if you've gone over this week's amount and red if your overall balance goes below zero.

What does the Safety Net do?

If your balance for the month goes below zero, the Safety Net automatically covers the shortfall from the savings goal with the most money in it. It reduces that goal by the amount you're short and records the transfer as a "Safety Net" income entry so your history stays accurate. A notice tells you how much was moved and from which goal. If none of your savings goals has money in it, you'll get a warning instead and nothing is moved.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings, tap Delete Account, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete. This permanently removes your account, budget, savings goals and every transaction you've logged. It cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. If you can't access the app, email us from your sign-up address and we'll delete it for you.

Is the AI advice financial advice?

No. The AI Advisor, Purchase Advice, spending predictions and Find Alternatives features are general guidance generated automatically from the figures you've entered. They may be incomplete or wrong, and they aren't a recommendation tailored to your full circumstances. Check anything important before you act on it. For free, impartial help, try MoneyHelper or your university's money advice service.

Does Spenvo connect to my bank?

No. Every transaction is entered manually by you. Spenvo never asks for bank login details and can't move real money. Safety Net transfers only change the figures inside the app.

Spenvo is not a bank or financial adviser. It is a budgeting tool. It doesn't hold your money, and it isn't authorised to give regulated financial advice.
